We learn nothing from history
You know, Godwin’s law aside, it’s not hard to find parallels between Germany under Hitler and America under Bush. Replace “jew” with “terrorist” or “fag” with … well, “fag”. I’ll grant you, this only works in broad strokes, but it seems like we as a nation have learned nothing at all from the last hundred years.
Case in point: Alabama wants to destroy books that contain homosexual references.
Never mind the fact that this has no fucking chance of making it past 1st amendment law, but seriously, how does anybody ever get away with even suggesting this sort of thing? Is book-burning the eternal cry of the morally superior? Proposing a law demanding that citizens refrain from thinking about something would be immediately shot down by the court of public opinion, but somehow suggesting the same thing, substituting “reading” for “thinking” is acceptable.
I weep for our society.
Whatever happened to the people who were die-hard about their liberties? The country who was so angry about remote-control government that they created one of the greatest documents ever written by man and went to war to get a king’s attention? We just sit idly by and let the Christian Right and conservative government take away our freedoms.
One month ago, 50% of our country voted for a man who has proven himself to stand for the welfare of the rich, a man who promotes anti-freedom legislation and openly attacks countries for no purpose other than to create profit and get his own worthless ass re-elected. On the same day, in several states across the country, Americans stood up and declared that their definition of love was the only acceptable one, and any deviation from the norm was completely unacceptable.
We hold our values of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness in one hand while using the other to crush those who don’t agree with our tiny little collective mind’s defniition of what liberty and happiness are.
Fuck all of you, America. Get your bitch-ass over here and suck oppresion’s dick, baby. You know you want to.
