Merry Christmas, Charlie Manson

Tag: Uncategorizedmav @ 5:37 pm

It is the end of the year. As such, it is a time when only one thing is certain: nothing is certain. Change is in the air. Badstuff.net has moved again. This blog will be moving shortly, whenever I can find something half as good as MT 2.661 to migrate it to. Shortly, I will be starting Week Two of the new job. Nothing is stable. Everything is uncertain.

One thing I’m not: bored.

Merry motherfucking Christmas everybody.

Also, you’re never too old to watch A Charlie Brown Christmas.

Hi Mav, You Owe Us $1700

Tag: Uncategorizedmav @ 10:46 pm

So I come home today and sort through my mail. Useless ad, credit card application, student loan bill (that I am aware of), hm, what’s this?

Oh, nothing, just a notice that I have to begin repayment of the $1700 student loan that I had planned to take out for this semester.

For those of you who weren’t paying attention: I didn’t go to school this semester. Which means that I didn’t get $1700. I asked CSI FinAid to cancel my loan application. Which they apparently did not. Which means I may have to pay back $1700. All things aside, though, that’s not what I’m pissed at. What I’m pissed at is this means CSI has $1700 of MY GODDAMN MONEY. Motherfuckers.

Christ, I bet this one takes a while to work out.

… And the doubt slams itself home

I woke up this morning about half a step away from seriously ill. I hate it when my body does this to me. I got a call yesterday from our favorite “dude, you’re getting a” computer company. They offered me $13.50 an hour and I pretty much just walked down the hall and put in my notice.

I had a discussion with my boss about some of the things I had noticed in my brief period of employment there. He appeared to not pay attention to them at all, since from what I heard he immediately went out and started doing exactly what I said was bad to do. Oh well, I’m leavin’.

The wind is blowing like a motherfucker, and from the Idaho road report everywhere on Earth has snow except for where I’m going. I hope it stays that way but I’m not holding my breath, so I may be spending the evening in Jackpot, Nevada.

We learn nothing from history

Tag: Uncategorizedmav @ 6:14 pm

You know, Godwin’s law aside, it’s not hard to find parallels between Germany under Hitler and America under Bush. Replace “jew” with “terrorist” or “fag” with … well, “fag”. I’ll grant you, this only works in broad strokes, but it seems like we as a nation have learned nothing at all from the last hundred years.

Case in point: Alabama wants to destroy books that contain homosexual references.

Never mind the fact that this has no fucking chance of making it past 1st amendment law, but seriously, how does anybody ever get away with even suggesting this sort of thing? Is book-burning the eternal cry of the morally superior? Proposing a law demanding that citizens refrain from thinking about something would be immediately shot down by the court of public opinion, but somehow suggesting the same thing, substituting “reading” for “thinking” is acceptable.

I weep for our society.
