So I think I’ve managed to royally screw myself

What else is new?

About two months ago, I interviewed for a job as an IT nerd at Cactus Pete’s. A month later I interviewed again. Two weeks after that, I got the job. Two weeks ago, I started my new job. Last week, I royally screwed up in my new job - or so I’ve been told, aside from one incident I really don’t know what I did wrong.

So, tomorrow, I have to decide whether or not I want to keep my new job.

I’ve come to the conclusion that corporations by nature are the embodiment of the girlfriend that says “If you don’t know what you did wrong, then I’m certainly not going to tell you.”

The dramallama followed me home

The past few weeks, everyone’s been mad at everyone else, and I don’t even know why. This weekend was just a giant bitchfest, and once again I don’t have any fucking clue why. What the shit is up with the massive amount of hostility floating around these days?

On a completely different note, I start my new job Tuesday. That should be quite the experience.

Firefly: I really love this show

Tag: Uncategorizedmav @ 4:19 pm

Since I don’t really have anything to do today aside from writing a little code, I’ve been watching Firefly while I’ve been coding. I love the shit out of this show, and am very excited to see the movie. This show has the best collection of writers ever. Case in point: the dialogue between Mal and Wash in “War Stories.” Also, the number of one-liners they manage to pack into an episode is frightening - that’s a Joss thing.

When interrogating a suspect:
Mal: Just scare him.
Jayne: But pain is scary.

Post-deal:
Jayne: Well, then, let’s see about my cut. Nothin’, divided by nothin’, carry the nothin’…

Simon: How do I know you won’t kill me in my sleep?
Mal: You don’t know me well, son, so let me explain this to you once. If I ever kill you, you’ll be awake, you’ll be facing me, and you’ll be armed.
Simon: Are you always this sentimental?
Mal: I had a good day.

Big shock of the day: The industry lies to you

Tag: Uncategorizedmav @ 8:41 pm

After years of the software, movies, and gaming industries telling us that software piracy is destroying them, bear in mind that all of those industries have shown consistent increases in profits. Like everything else, their stances are based solely on what they want you to hear, not what the facts are. Business is the great evil of our time, not politics.
