I hate it when a good panic gets interrupted

This week was going so well until yesterday. Whizzed through my EE lab, ripped up the homework, then proceeded to calculus where I did my quiz, homework and self-study with alacrity. Dropped by the Polya and aced my trig test. And then Wednesday night hit, and the shit started hitting the fan like some jackass with a shit-Tommy Gun was pumping round after round of .30-0shit rounds in the direction of the oscillating blades.

Event 1: Mr. Rogers dies. Well, he didn’t die Wednesday night. I found out he was dead Wednesday night. Mr. Rogers was a bit of a hero of mine, as I would imagine he was for a lot of people.
Event 2: The UofI ITS once again decides to remind us that living on-campus bears very little resemblance to real ife, when they, without any explanation, turn off yet another large chunk of our Internet access. Frankly, I’m surprised that FTP works.

Press on to today, when I step out to go to Bob’s for dinner and find out through Dave that his Counter-Strike was not working online anymore, and that nobody he’d talked to could get online either. After trying the same thing on my machine, Furby’s rig and consulting the local Day of Defeat players, we had just about conceeded that ITS had fucked us once again and turned off Half-Life. Of course somebody had to suggest that it might be a problem with WON, and get on the Counter-Strike.net forums and verify that. Just about the time you’ve got a good panic going, somebody pisses on your brush fire.

In the midst of all this, UI Facilities installed new showerheads in all the showers in McConnell Hall. It’s about time, and only a month after our request. Pretty decent turnaround for corporate, if you ask me. Now if only ITS would take a lesson from them and start treating us like the customers we are instead of acting like they are performing miracles for our benefit. We’re paying for the shit, let us use it.

Good news coming up: Saturday evening is our first official North Idaho/Eastern Washington goonmeet. Tomorrow, we bowl! It’s kickin rad! We’re going to party hard! Catchphrase! Overused catchphrase! Incredibly retarted catchphrase x2!
