It’s really interesting to discover a directory of mp3’s you haven’t seen in months. I really downloaded some interesting stuff back in the opennap days. Nice to listen to music you forgot you had.
The people on the something awful direct connect hub are absolutely awesome. I’ve already ’shared’ several gigs of stuff, they don’t care if you download so long as you’re sharing too. I wish the Direct Connect client didn’t suck quite so bad. It’s a real pain in the ass, but it works. I’d rather be running Hotline, even, but it works.
Looks like prepaid is cheaper for what I’m doing than a cellular contract anyway, and AT&T will let you sign up directly if you have your own tri-mode/dual-band phone. I’ll call Edge on Monday and confirm that their policy is the same as AT&T’s, and if it is, I should be able to pick up the Startac 7797 I wanted on eBay used for $100-$125, as opposed to the $250+ that most cell dealers want new. Cellular is such a racket, but it’s too damned handy. Hey, it’s just like broadband!
